Overall Responsibilities: The Parking Services Technician is
responsible for performing a wide variety of duties to support the
operational efficiency of the Miami Parking Authority. Assuring
good customer relations and the general upkeep of all facilities.
Individuals in this position are responsible for collecting used
tickets, refilling garage/lot equipment with tickets, receipt
paper, daily upkeep and troubleshooting of equipment and monitoring
use and reporting the condition of parking areas. Additional
responsibilities include the directing of traffic and trash
removal. Extensive knowledge of parking equipment at all automated
facilities and perform any combination of tasks described below in
accordance with established procedures and subject to inspection
for adherence to required standards of cleanliness and compliance
with instructions. Duties and Responsibilities: Patrol off-street
parking facilities conducting facility inspections,
identifying/correcting hazards, rendering light maintenance
providing exemplary customer service to facility patrons. Do daily
patrols in all garages and lots, collect used tickets, refill
equipment with tickets, receipt paper, ink, etc. Testing and
troubleshooting of equipment such as pay stations, entry and exit
verifiers. Assist with light mechanical repairs and maintenance or
repairs of arm gates. Assures that the automatic gate and ticket
dispensing equipment is operating in harmony with overall operation
of parking garage. Operate small machinery: pressure washing
machine, blower, sweeper and cordless drills. Light painting and
painting touch ups as well as assisting in the covering/removal of
graffiti on signs and common areas of facilities. Conduct daily
visual inspections of elevators for vandalism or other signs of
damage that need repair. Conduct facility inspections of the
assigned facilities. Perform general custodial duties, including
picking up litter on the exterior ground of facilities. as well as
sweeping or blowing sidewalk and driveways in common areas of the
facilities. Perform general duties, including installation of
parking signs in fence, frames or garage decks. Erects barricades
and places parking direction signs as necessary. Daily opening and
closure of assigned facilities. Perform Customer Service Monitors
duties when needed. Must keep all equipment and work area clean.
Policies parking garage and lot grounds. Directs traffic and
patrols assigned facilities to assure safety of vehicles. Operates
and maintains assigned vehicles and must follow all traffic and
parking laws while operating a company vehicle. Assists the public
with directions and information. Corrects and/or reports any
hazardous conditions. Comply with all safety standards, rules and
regulations. Performs any other duties that may be assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of and ability
in the accurate use of simple arithmetic. Ability to: Fill out
daily reports of duties performed on paper or a digital device
(tablets, computer) Provide routine information in a clear manner.
Keep simple records and make reports. Establish and maintain
effective working relationships with other employees and the
general public. Lift and move weights of 25 pounds or less. Basic
computer and tablets skills, and ability to work programs used at
command center, such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Basic
knowledge and able to work with excel and word. Job Knowledge:
Education – High School education. Require reading, writing,
adding, subtracting and following instructions. Judgement and
Decision Making: Restricted scope of duties. Some analysis of facts
surrounding individual problems. Referral to supervisor for
involved or questionable cases. Avoid Inattention or careless when
operating equipment which may cause lost time injury to self or
others in immediate area. Errors may involve losses such as cash
shortfalls, improper costs, overpayment, and failure to take
discounts, waste of materials, damage or loss of equipment. Work
may be subject to verification and/or check. Responsible for
reconciling all monies collected (if needed) on a requested basis
and turning it into accounting. Regular contacts with peers,
supervisors and/or other departments, general public and customers
requiring tact, to avoid friction and obtain cooperation. Manual
Skill and Dexterity: Job does not require skills and abilities
beyond those normally possessed by the average individual. Physical
Effort: Light physical effort required consisting of occasional
moderate walking, lifting or moving of material and sometime works
in cramped positions while using repair tools. Working Conditions:
Somewhat unpleasant working conditions. Exposure to dust, dirt,
heat, cold, noise, fumes, and rain. The intent of this job
